Sabbatical Fall 2017

In the fall of 2017 I was granted a sabbatical leave by South Texas College to research Renaissance and Baroque art and taking those experiences to the classroom. I was able to visit Italy and Spain, and I also visited South Africa on my own, partly to see the influence of European Art on that side of the world.

The trip was very productive, I was able to visit over 130 museums and churches, plus public squares, gardens and monuments. Below there is a short slide with of different places visited. One of the main points that I want to bring to the classroom is that this pieces of art are not isolated, and people interact with them, love them, and are very proud of their legacy; a feeling that is hard to get from reading textbooks, which present images isolated, photographed many times from the place where they are displayed.

I have photos and videos which might be of interest to the STC faculty, please contact me if interested to make the material available for you.

I am working on pages for every place visited. This site is under construction. Thank you for visiting. Please come back soon as I am adding more content and images. Comments are appreciated. Thank you.
